Access for all

The Capitol welcomes all patrons and has an extensive range of services to ensure you have an enjoyable and comfortable visit. Please do mention your requirements when you book tickets, and don’t hesitate to ask the Duty Manager if there is anything you need on arrival.

Assisted Access Scheme

We operate a scheme for those who need somebody to be present in order to assist them to readily access theatre shows. Our Assisted Access Scheme allows members to book a seat for themselves, and then a receive a complimentary ticket for their an essential companion. Joining is free – a short application form is available from the Box Office or to download, providing contact details and any information the applicant would like recorded to assist with their visits.

The applicant or their appointed representative will be required to sign a declaration that the person concerned is restricted in their ability to access the services provided in The Capitol without assistance. The Companion must be able to help the disabled person access the theatre and its facilities, remaining with them to ensure their wellbeing and comfort. All tickets are subject to availability at the time of booking. The theatre reserves the right to review the availability of tickets within the scheme, to review a member’s eligibility and to revoke that membership following review.

Parking

There are two reserved parking spaces for Blue Badge holders at the side of The Capitol and these are first come, first served. There are additional Blue Badge bays in North St car park and these are a short distance from The Capitol.

Getting Around

There is level access to the ground floor of The Capitol building via a ramp from street level. The Foyer, theatre stalls, bar and Screen 2 cinema can be accessed from this level.

There is a lift to the first floor with level access to the Gallery, Screen 1 and Studio. This lift also provides level access to the rear of Theatre Stalls, however access to the Theatre Circle is via stairs only. For advice on booking the best seats, please contact our Box Office who will be happy to assist.

Toilet Facilities

There are accessible and adapted toilets on the ground and first floor.

Hearing Impaired

Sound enhancement systems are available in the theatre, cinema and Studio. The best quality of sound is through our infra red headsets which are available to borrow free from the box office. If you prefer to use the T switch on your hearing aid, you will need to borrow an induction loop aerial, also available from the box office, which is worn around the neck.

Visually Impaired

Assistance Dogs are welcome in all areas of the building. Please contact the box office in advance to discuss arrangements for booking.

Auditoria

There are a limited number of wheelchair spaces available in each venue, please notify the ticket office when booking.

Our staff can bring refreshments to you in the interval – please ask a member of our Front of House staff for this service.
